Philosophy
At Gentle Birth Care, we understand that childbearing includes physical, emotional, spiritual, family and community well-being. The midwife must monitor and protect well-being. Your midwife will provide you and your family individualized care that includes education and counseling, physical examination; support and assistance during labor and birth, and postpartum home visits to care for you and your new baby. We give our clients respectful loving care.
Pregnancy and Childbirth are Natural Life Events
At Gentle Birth Care, we believe pregnancy and childbirth are a natural part of a woman’s life and usually proceed normally. With guidance, many discomforts and potential problems can be alleviated or prevented. Healthy habits facilitate the body’s work during this miraculous process.
We believe that it is your right and responsibility to make health care decisions for yourself and your baby. It’s the midwife's responsibility to provide information and resources to help you make fully informed choices. We believe that less intervention is best, but carry emergency equipment and medicines to use in case they are needed.
We respect cultural and religious beliefs and understand that a woman’s beliefs, and those of her family, are the fabric of health for both mother and baby. We honor a woman’s ability to give birth in her own unique way with the support and encouragement of her loved ones, in the comfort and security of her own home.
